Edmonton Wedding Planner: Donna + Olivier
Donna + Olivier are from two very different backgrounds and opposite ends of the country, but love has a way of bringing people together when they least expect it.
Olivier is from Halifax, so they flew out there for their engagement session with Sharon Litchfield and got some incredible, picturesque photos. Their September wedding festivities incorporated several Chinese traditions including a morning Tea Ceremony, door games and a 10-course dinner at Golden Rice Bowl Restaurant.
After an elegant ceremony at Winspear Centre with classical music and timeless décor, the Wedding Party took photos at the newly opened Rogers Place (Donna is a huge Edmonton Oilers fan)! After dinner the newlyweds shared a romantic first dance surrounded with sparklers and continued celebrating with their 250 guests until the early morning.
The whole day was a perfect blend of two families and two cultures. Enjoy this sneak peek at Donna + Oli’s love story!

Edmonton Wedding Coordinator: Jocelynn + Sam
Jocelynn and Sam wanted a carefree wedding day they could spend creating memories with their loved ones. Family is very important to them, which was clear with their choice to include all their siblings, nieces and nephews in the wedding party.
After sharing a ‘first look’ and an afternoon of photos in Edmonton’s River Valley and at Woodwork restaurant, Jocelynn and Sam made their way to The Westin Edmonton. Their late afternoon ceremony was beautifully personalized by Barbara of Threshold Ceremonies, and was set under a handcrafted arbour lovingly made by Jocelynn’s father.
Guests joined the newlyweds for cocktails and refreshments before sitting down for a delicious meal and heartfelt toasts. The ballroom was simple and elegant with pops of blue, silver and greenery amidst an all-white canvas. Talent Productions provided the soundtrack for the evening and everyone danced the night away.
Sharon Litchfield never ceases to amaze with her ability to produce breathtaking images (though her subject matter wasn’t exactly difficult to shoot)!

Edmonton Wedding Planner: Alyssa + Steve
Alyssa + Steve were married on a beautiful summer day last June. They met through one of Alyssa’s best friends who is dating Steve’s cousin, and they share a common bond through their love of sports and music festivals. Once we got to know them it was clear that their wedding style would be modern with a sophisticated vibe – plus a bit of edge!
A traditional Catholic ceremony was held at St. Joachim Church, followed by photos before the reception at Matrix Hotel. The Quartz Ballroom was transformed with white, black and rose gold décor. We incorporated trendy stone elements such as marble inspired invitations, black agate table numbers and a cake to match. The focal point in the room was the 30’x20′ white glossy dance floor with custom black monogram in the centre.
Alyssa, Steve: enjoy this look back at your incredible wedding day! It was such a pleasure getting to you know and we wish you all the best as you continue your love story.

Kickinghorse Winter Wedding: Sarah + Andrew
Sarah + Andrew decided on a winter destination wedding with an intimate guest list of their loved ones. And if you’re going to get married in the winter, what’s more romantic than getting married on top of a snow-covered mountain?!
Kickinghorse Resort in Golden, B.C. was the perfect setting to host their nuptials. There are numerous accommodation options at the base of the resort, so you can basically hop on a lift within minutes outside your door. When it came time for the wedding, guests did just that! In the late afternoon, they took the gondola up to Eagle’s Eye Restaurant where Sarah + Andrew exchanged vows in front of a beautiful stone fireplace and their beloved pup, Bella.
This wedding was such an honour to be a part of as I’ve known Andrew and his entire family since I was 8. It was incredible to see him find the love of his life in Sarah, and I must say he’s a very lucky man! These gorgeous images by Sharon Litchfield capture the essence of the weekend so well – enjoy this peek into Sarah + Andrew’s love story.

Edmonton Wedding Coordinator: Justine + Ian
Justine + Ian’s wedding was a chic, vintage inspired affair on a cool November day. Filled with love and laughter, 160 of their nearest and dearest shared their infectious happiness at the magical Fairmont Hotel Macdonald.
Both the ceremony and reception were held in the elegant Empire Ballroom. Justine’s love for all things vintage was evident by so many special touches – not a detail was missed. Black ribbons held a sprig of rosemary at each setting; vintage serving trays displayed guest seating arrangements; antique sofas and trunks provided soft seating in the foyer; and glowing candles were scattered throughout the tablescapes.
I’ll let these photos captured by the talented Sharon Litchfield transport you through every detail of their day – and if you’re itching to see more of this soirée, Justine shares some beautiful sentiments on her lifestyle blog, With Justine.
Thank you, Justine + Ian, for allowing us to be a part of your love story.

Best Wedding Dessert Tables
Dessert tables have been a popular feature at wedding receptions over the past few years. This trend began with candy tables and has evolved to include a couple’s favourite sweets and desserts, such as doughnuts, cookies, cupcakes and pies. We’ve also done frozen yogurt and ice cream bars, custom chocolate truffle stations and popcorn displays!
Why do we love this trend?
- Sweet tables are a great way to personalize your reception, showcasing your tastes as a couple. Think out-of-the-box to your childhood favourites or desserts from your heritage.
- Use a dessert bar to reflect your reception design, adding an element of décor to the space.
- Rather than giving away individual guest favours, instead invest that budget in a fun dessert table that guests can enjoy all evening.
Here are some of our favourite sweet tables and dessert bars we’ve designed for JBW couples. Warning – do not view on an empty stomach!

Edmonton Wedding Planner: Ashley + Dave
This post is a long time coming. We’re so thrilled to finally share Ashley + Dave’s romantic fall wedding, which is featured in the current issue of Bridal Fantasy Magazine.
Matrix Hotel was the setting for both ceremony and reception, fulfilling the couple’s wish to make the day convenient and easy for their guests. After a first look in the backyard gazebo of Ashley’s childhood home, the Wedding Party spent the afternoon taking photos before arriving for a candlelit ceremony with café lights hanging at the altar.
We designed the reception with a rich, warm colour palette reminiscent of the fall season, including shades of raspberry, marsala, plum, navy and gold. A mix of round and long wooden harvest tables were covered with lush florals, fruit and greenery. Gold accents and soft amber uplighting added extra sparkle to the romantic atmosphere.
After a set of exceptionally memorable and hilarious speeches, Ashley + Dave took to the dance floor to kick off the party. Harman B & DJ Kwake manned the DJ booth – a boxwood hedge with custom marquee letters spelling “A&D.”
This highlight video from A Love Story brings back all the memories from this incredible day – enjoy!
