Earlier this year we worked with an incredible team of creative professionals to produce a shoot inspired by Pantone’s 2014 Colour of the Year – Radiant Orchid. Pairing a gradient of purples – from soft lavender to deep plum – with tones of peach, tangerine and copper, resulted in an unexpected colour palette that inspired all elements of the shoot. We tinted our model’s hair peach, incorporated peaches, grapes and blackberries in the edible components, and even had a peach kitten on set!

Pops of black gave the design a contemporary edge, and triangles were used as a geometric component that were carried through the stationery, cake, bouquet, food and accessories. Enjoy this selection of our favourite images below, and jump over to WedLuxe.com to check out the full feature!

Last week we shared the inspiration behind Sandy + Steve’s Enjoy Centre wedding design. As far as winter weddings go, this one is pretty spectacular!

Both from large families with strong cultural traditions, we worked with Sandy + Steve to fuse their East Indian and Croatian backgrounds to create a truly unique event experience.

• A traditional East Indian Henna (Mehndi) party was held before the wedding.
• A Croatian band played at the ceremony and throughout dinner.
• Sandy wore a gorgeous ivory lace gown for the ceremony, while her bridesmaids wore traditional East Indian attire.
• Customary Croatian shots of fine cognacs and grappa were served to guests upon arrival at the reception.
• A Dhol drummer escorted the newlyweds into their reception for the grand entrance.
• A mix of Western and Eastern cuisine was served which included family favourites from both sides.
• DJ Pat from Premiere DJs by Urban Metropolis played a fusion of Indian dance music, Top 40, R&B and classic Croatian polkas!

Sandy + Steve wanted their winter wedding to be dramatic, romantic, elegant and bold. We let the stunning glass ceilings at The Enjoy Centre serve as inspiration for the design, allowing the deep blue night sky to shine through and enhancing it with additional blue lighting around the perimeter of the space. White and gold textured lighting was used to breakup the blue, mimicking twinkling stars. Metallic elements were carried throughout the design to ensure the sparkle of winter was present, while rich tones of cranberry and red florals brought vibrancy and life to the tables. Megan + Eric decided to host a weekend destination wedding at one of their favorite locations – The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. They wanted their guests to enjoy a sumptuous, romantic winter getaway, while incorporating unique elements to personalize the day.

Upon arrival, guests received welcome packages in their hotel rooms which included some of the couple’s favourite treats and snacks, mountain-themed components to tie into the destination, as well as a weekend itinerary postcard with a personalized thank you note. At the reception dinner tables, “guest libs” (mad libs) cards were placed at each setting on the other side of the menu. Guests filled in the blanks to Megan + Eric’s love story with their own creative adjectives – this was such a fun keepsake and an excellent alternative to a traditional guest book!

To convey a warm, romantic feeling with wintery undertones, we based the wedding design around a palette of mixed metallics and warm pastels. “Winter sparkle” was included in elements throughout the wedding design – from the glitter paper used in the stationery, to champagne sequin overlays, to the custom sparkly silver aisle runner. Black suede chair pads on dark gold diamond back chairs enhanced the medieval characteristics of Mount Stephen Hall.

Kyle + Chase…where do I begin. They are two of the most kind-hearted gentlemen I know, and anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting them knows they will bend over backwards for their loved ones. Oh, and they’re unbelievably handsome. It’s obvious, but deserves acknowledgment!

It was a perfect summer day at the Fort Edmonton Blatchford Air Hangar. The wedding combined black tie formality (guests dressed in black, white or grey) with an outdoor, carefree vibe – a theme that is very reflective of Kyle + Chase’s personalities.

They exchanged vows under a live tree covered with ribbons and over 3,000 paper cranes. The first dance (Tracy Chapman’s ‘The Promiss’) was performed by singer/songwriter Krystle Dos Santos, while guests lit sparklers and surrounded the happy couple. It was truly a magical moment!

Lindsay + Ben are such a sweet couple. Their October wedding day was filled with big, warm smiles from all their family and friends. I just love the look on Ben’s face as he sees Lindsay walk down the aisle at St. Albert Catholic Parish!

Their timeless ivory and gold reception at Matrix Hotel featured a killer candy bar and amazing entertainment – duelling pianists Jesse Peters and Tiff Hall kept guests on the dance floor all night!

Wendy + Ian’s wedding was published in WedLuxe Magazine’s Winter/Spring 2014 issue, but we haven’t yet blogged it! In honour of their first anniversary (today!), here’s a look at their incredible wedding at The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.

The week leading up to the wedding was quite eventful as the area suffered catastrophic flooding, resulting in the highway being closed. Thankfully it reopened just a couple days before the wedding and everything carried on as planned. We also lucked out with a warm and sunny day for the outdoor ceremony set on Bow Valley Terrace with a postcard-perfect view.

Chock full of personal details and unique touches, it’s no surprise that Alexis + Tom’s charming summer wedding was featured in the latest issue of Blush Magazine.

The entire celebration was held at Christ Church – a beautiful 1920s church in the heart of downtown Edmonton that looks like it belongs in Europe! An intimate late afternoon ceremony flowed right into an outdoor cocktail hour complete with delicious appetizers, lawn games and an assortment of refreshing drinks such as cucumber water and strawberry lemonade. 

At the reception guests were treated to a decadent family style dinner catered by Culina and an illustrious dessert table full of cakes and pies made with love by family members.

Her keen eye and love for bicycles made Blake Loates the perfect fit to photograph this wedding! Enjoy a glimpse of Alexis + Tom’s big day below.
