Jasper Wedding Planner: Violeta + Barry
Violeta + Barry were married at The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge on a hot and sunny weekend last summer. Violeta’s energy and enthusiasm is off the charts, while Barry is the epitomy of calm, cool and collected. They balance one another perfectly, which made the planning process a lot of fun!
The couple decided to make a weekend out of their destination wedding celebration dress and included some additional events for guests to enjoy and get to know one another. The day before the wedding guests enjoyed a fun golf tournament at the Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course – the number one rated resort course in Canada. Following the tournament, the couple held an informal “meet and greet” barbecue to relax with their friends and family in the beautiful setting.
On the big day, the scene at Whistler’s Plateau was absolutely stunning. The combination of Lac Beauvert’s sparkling green water and the majestic Rockies made for the perfect, natural backdrop for the outdoor ceremony. After the happy couple exchanged vows, guests made their way to the Beauvert Room for the reception. The head table featured a showstopping tablescape which epitomized rustic elegance: lanterns, driftwood, candlelight and an abundance of lush florals and ferns.
Guests enjoyed a fabulous 5-star buffet dinner and midnight snack featuring fresh cut French fries, which were a huge hit. As many children were in attendance, Vio + Barry created a “kids’ zone” which included supervised games, activities and movies. The kids had plenty to keep them busy while their parents danced the night away!
Thanks to the brilliant photography of Kelly Redinger, Vio + Barry have some amazing images to help them relive their Jasper wedding weekend.
Vio + Barry: Your Jasper wedding weekend was such a memorable occasion to be a part of – thank you for trusting us with this important time in your lives. All the best!

Edmonton Wedding Planner: Sabrina + Fil
Sabrina + Fil’s July wedding day began with a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony in honour of Sabrina’s heritage. Then the wedding party travelled to The Westin Edmonton, where both the wedding ceremony and reception were held. Sabrina was perfectly styled in Vera Wang, Jimmy Choo and Elsa Corsi jewelry. Both her parents walked her down the aisle to her handsome groom, and the couple exchanged vows in front of the family and friends that would support them throughout their marriage.
The reception started with a bang as the traditional Lion Dance was performed before guests indulged in a delicious 4-course meal. Sabrina put a lot of effort into selecting the perfect sweets for the candy table and her hard work paid off – the table was a huge hit (and that’s an understatement)!
I love the thought and creativity Sabrina + Fil put into their photo session with Sharon Litchfield. They used confetti and sparklers as props and the images turned out amazing, as is the case whenever you have Sharon behind the lens. Enjoy a selection of our favourites below!
Sabrina + Fil: It was an absolute pleasure working with you both on your beautiful wedding day! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness together.

Wedding Trend: Petit Pairings
Thoughtfully pairing food and/or beverage elements can create a memorable experience for your guests. Often referred to as “Petit Pairings,” these culinary combinations are a great way to personalize your wedding and share your favourite edibles in a unique way.
We love incorporating these unexpected surprises post-ceremony, during cocktails or as a late night snack. Here’s a round-up of our faves:

Wedding Trend: Art Deco
A noticeable trend this year in design – whether in fashion, interiors or events – is a return to the rich colours, bold geometric shapes and lavish ornamentation of the Art Deco era. We’re even seeing this on the big screen with this weekend’s release of one of the most highly anticipated films of 2013, The Great Gatsby.
Whether you’d like to incorporate a few touches from the era or have a completely Art Deco themed wedding, here’s some eye candy for inspiration!

Jasper Wedding Planner: Wendy + Trevor
Wendy + Trevor were married at The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge – one of my absolute favourite venues. As a guest, you’re removed from the hustle and bustle of your busy life, while luxurious amenities are at your fingertips. And the scenery? Amazing.
Both originally from a small Alberta town, Wendy + Trevor wanted their wedding to feel comfortable and welcoming while still exuding the elegance of the Lodge. Guests were invited to an informal ‘meet & greet’ the night before the wedding, which allowed old friends to catch up and new friends to become better acquainted.
The next day we were treated to the most perfect summer weather. It was warm and sunny on Whistler’s Plateau where Wendy + Trevor exchanged vows in front of their loved ones. Dinner was held in the Beauvert Ballroom which has the most remarkable view of Lac Beauvert. After some heartfelt toasts, guests danced the night away with the newlyweds!
Blake Loates did a fantastic job capturing the romance of the day – my absolute favourite is the look on Trevor’s face as he sees Wendy walking down the aisle. Enjoy the photos below and head on over to Blake’s blog to see more of her gorgeous work!
Wendy + Trevor: Looking back on these pictures reminds me of what a pleasure it was to work with you two! You’re a wonderful couple and I wish you both all the best with your recent move!

Inspiration to Reality: Wendy + Trevor
Wedding season hasn’t quite begun for JBW, but we still have some gorgeous soirées to share from 2012!
Today’s Inspiration to Reality post features a fresh, romantic summertime wedding in the mountains at one of my favourite venues: The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Both originally from a small Alberta town, Wendy + Trevor wanted their wedding to feel comfortable and welcoming while still exuding the elegance of the Lodge. The soft pink, cream and green palette was blended with homespun touches to create the perfect wedding day for this super sweet couple.

Edmonton Wedding Planner: Tina + John
Tina + John’s gorgeous Art Gallery of Alberta wedding was recently featured on WedLuxe.com – home of Canada’s luxury wedding magazine.
The day began with an intimate candlelight ceremony in the AGA’s Ledcor Theatre, followed by a cocktail reception on the 3rd floor terrace. The couple’s signature drink, aptly named “Evening Love Affair,” was served with personalized cocktail napkins. Delicious sweets accompanied their four-tier wedding cake, all black & white in theme with pink ombré rose petals overflowing on the table.
The menu by Zinc Catering was exquisite! Guests were given a choice of four entrées which were served with the couple’s favourite dish – truffle macaroni & cheese – as a side. Dessert included anise poached pears with caramel ginger sauce and frangelico crème brûlée.
Tina + John kept their guests entertained all night – from amazing music for the dancing crowd to take-home caricature drawings to a drool-worthy late night snack from Drift Food Truck – there was something for everyone! These two have so much fun together and this shines through in Kelly Redinger’s beautiful photography shown below.
{Special thanks to Krista, Lana and Arlene for assisting on this wedding!}
Tina + John: Best wishes for an amazing future together – and congrats on your recent addition to the family!
