For C+B, The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is not just a beautiful mountain resort. It holds special meaning in their relationship, as it is where they first met while attending a conference as University students. Ten years later, they chose to hold their wedding here – on Valentine’s Day. It doesn’t get more romantic than that!

For privacy reasons we aren’t sharing any photos of the happy couple and their guests, but we wanted to showcase some of the gorgeous décor we designed, and acknowledge the talented team of event professionals who helped bring this day to life.

• The luxurious custom invitation and stationery suite by Palettera featured gold foil application and letterpress printing, with custom illustrations of places of significance to their love story. The invitations were delivered in gorgeous boxes lined with red rose paper and finished with satin ribbon.
• Guest tables were dressed in cream overlays with embroidered appliques, giving a soft and romantic look to the Beauvert Ballroom. Natural Manzanita tree centrepieces designed by fabLOOMosity twinkled with gold votives that hung from the branches, while a base of hydrangea and lush garden roses spilled onto the tables. Pearl glass charger plates, cranberry napkins and letterpress menus completed each setting.
• The 18-person wedding party sat at a dramatic King’s Table covered in a lush floral tablescape of textural greens, cream and burgundy blooms, and ample candlelight.
• The Art of Cake designed a gorgeous four-tier cake covered in hand-sculpted gold petals.

Part 2 of our bouquet inspiration series – we’re featuring bright and bold bouquets full of colour! Bold bouquets really pop against a white or cream wedding dress.

Keep it all one colour for a more classic look, or play with various shades of a colour for more dimension and texture. To make an even bigger statement, pair complementary colours such as fuchsia and kelly green or violet and tangerine.

Catherine + Neal’s Royal Mayfair Golf Club wedding was recently featured in Edmonton’s own Bridal Fantasy Magazine. 

They chose to incorporate traditions from both of their backgrounds. Neal and his groomsmen wore Scottish kilts and his grandmother gave a blessing in Gaelic before dinner. To represent Catherine’s Polish side, perogies and cabbage rolls were served at the rehearsal dinner and the marriage commissioner said a few words in Polish before the ceremony began. A very unique element of the ceremony was a Celtic handfasting using the official tartans of Alberta and Nova Scotia, representing the bride and groom’s places of birth.

Their favourite moment of the day? “Seeing each other for the first time was both awesome and hilarious. The anticipation and excitement is so evident in the photos. Our other favourite part was listening to everyone’s speeches. Each of them was so heartfelt and funny – we felt very special.”

At the reception, crystal garlands and phalaenopsis orchids cascaded from silver candelabras. Navy blue napkins and silver charger plates mimicked facets inspired by Art Deco era architecture. Melissa’s bouquet was designed with sections of homogeneous white blooms that were included in each of her bridesmaids’ bouquets. As a nod to Bassil’s Lebanese heritage, a belly dancer surprised guests after dinner, getting everyone up on the dance floor to kick off the party.

We had the pleasure of working with Melissa and Bassil to plan their Fairmont Hotel Macdonald Edmonton wedding while they were living in Toronto. Melissa knew she wanted a wedding with Art Deco influence and a nod to The Great Gatbsy. A classic palette of navy, silver and white combined with crystal and pewter accents conveyed the formality needed to perfectly reflect the theme.
