Arizona is a popular vacation and winter home destination for many Albertans – why not celebrate your wedding in the warm, dry heat with spectacular sunsets and stunning desert backdrops?!

Paula + Sheldon did just that. To celebrate their love and unite their two families, they decided to host a destination wedding experience in one of their favorite locations: Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North. A luxury hotel nestled in the foothills of Pinnacle Peak, this has been a special place since they first met, and was a natural choice for their wedding weekend location.

Friday kicked off the weekend events with an early morning golf tournament at The Boulders Golf Club – one of the top 12 golf resorts in the world. Later that evening, we welcomed guests with a casual Cowboy Cookout at Proof Restaurant overlooking the McDowell Mountains. Attendees were encouraged to wear western attire, and the menu was rich with hearty southwestern favorites.

The wedding day arrived with clear blue skies and sunshine. The ceremony was held outdoors on the Four Seasons Troon Lawn overlooking a picturesque desert scene. Immediately following the ceremony, guests were served drinks and canapés on a nearby terrace while the lawn was transformed for dinner. At the reception guests enjoyed a 4-course meal and several heartfelt toasts. As a surprise for the groom from his bride, we arranged for a spectacular fireworks display timed perfectly after one minute of their first dance outdoors under the stars!

Still brimming with excitement after the fireworks spectacle, guests were ushered into the Ironwood Ballroom for the after-party, where music from top Arizona DJs Desert House Productions filled the ballroom with expectant energy. Flooded with pink, orange and purple lighting, the space was designed to convey a desert sunset, signifying the end to an amazing weekend of events.

Kyle + Chase…where do I begin. They are two of the most kind-hearted gentlemen I know, and anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting them knows they will bend over backwards for their loved ones. Oh, and they’re unbelievably handsome. It’s obvious, but deserves acknowledgment!

It was a perfect summer day at the Fort Edmonton Blatchford Air Hangar. The wedding combined black tie formality (guests dressed in black, white or grey) with an outdoor, carefree vibe – a theme that is very reflective of Kyle + Chase’s personalities.

They exchanged vows under a live tree covered with ribbons and over 3,000 paper cranes. The first dance (Tracy Chapman’s ‘The Promiss’) was performed by singer/songwriter Krystle Dos Santos, while guests lit sparklers and surrounded the happy couple. It was truly a magical moment!

Lindsay + Ben are such a sweet couple. Their October wedding day was filled with big, warm smiles from all their family and friends. I just love the look on Ben’s face as he sees Lindsay walk down the aisle at St. Albert Catholic Parish!

Their timeless ivory and gold reception at Matrix Hotel featured a killer candy bar and amazing entertainment – duelling pianists Jesse Peters and Tiff Hall kept guests on the dance floor all night!

Two of my closest friends were married in Victoria last fall, and I had the honour of playing double duty as wedding planner and guest! Wendy + Ian’s wedding was published in WedLuxe Magazine’s Winter/Spring 2014 issue, but we haven’t yet blogged it! In honour of their first anniversary (today!), here’s a look at their incredible wedding at The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.

The week leading up to the wedding was quite eventful as the area suffered catastrophic flooding, resulting in the highway being closed. Thankfully it reopened just a couple days before the wedding and everything carried on as planned. We also lucked out with a warm and sunny day for the outdoor ceremony set on Bow Valley Terrace with a postcard-perfect view.

The Canadian Event Industry Awards (Star Awards) is a national award program that recognizes outstanding achievements in Canadian special events, meeting management, conference planning and exhibition management.

Last month we were honoured to attend the awards gala in Toronto and take home a Star Award for Best Wedding Under $75K! The award-winning wedding was Paula + Sheldon’s Scottsdale, Arizona soirée. This family-friendly destination wedding entertained guests over an entire weekend and provided them with the quintessential southwestern experience.
