The bridal bouquet is a very important element of your wedding. You’ll be photographed with it for much of the day – it absolutely must reflect your wedding style AND look great with your gown and accessories! In the name of inspiration, we’re flooding the blog with flowers and featuring a series on different styles of beautiful bouquets!

First up – Classic White. You can rarely go wrong with an all-white/cream bouquet – it’s perfect for the bride who desires an elegant, timeless and sophisticated look on her wedding day. Soft flowers with high petal counts like roses and ranunculus scream romance, while a bouquet composed of blooms with stronger lines and edges such as orchids or calla lilies are a great choice for the more contemporary bride. Adding bits of peach, champagne or blush can give the bouquet more dimension and texture, and often conveys a vintage undertone.

We were delighted to help celebrate the arrival of Baby Fitz with a Parisian inspired shower hosted by his maternal grandmother at the Royal Mayfair Golf Club.

The theme of the shower was inspired by Fitz’s mom’s love for sophisticated French design, which she developed while attending photography school in Paris. A neutral palette of taupe and crisp white with ornate scrolls and stripes integrated throughout the event design made the celebration fit for a baby boy with high style.

A French style café served lattes, cappuccinos and specialty coffees which guests paired with exquisite treats from the adjacent ‘patisserie’, including a showpiece croquembouche, macarons, meringues, eclairs and lemon cakes from Duchess Bake Shop.

Parisian inspired lounge furniture shipped in from Decor & More created a comfortable space for guests to hold the star of the party. Guests tested their baby smarts with a celebrity baby name game and nursery rhyme quiz, and the winners took home beautiful Voluspa candles. Baby Fitz was showered with love and cuddles – a great start to what’s sure to be a beautiful life!

Earlier this year we worked with an incredible team of creative professionals to produce a shoot inspired by Pantone’s 2014 Colour of the Year – Radiant Orchid. Pairing a gradient of purples – from soft lavender to deep plum – with tones of peach, tangerine and copper, resulted in an unexpected colour palette that inspired all elements of the shoot. We tinted our model’s hair peach, incorporated peaches, grapes and blackberries in the edible components, and even had a peach kitten on set!

Pops of black gave the design a contemporary edge, and triangles were used as a geometric component that were carried through the stationery, cake, bouquet, food and accessories. Enjoy this selection of our favourite images below, and jump over to WedLuxe.com to check out the full feature!

Last week we shared the inspiration behind Sandy + Steve’s Enjoy Centre wedding design. As far as winter weddings go, this one is pretty spectacular!

Both from large families with strong cultural traditions, we worked with Sandy + Steve to fuse their East Indian and Croatian backgrounds to create a truly unique event experience.

• A traditional East Indian Henna (Mehndi) party was held before the wedding.
• A Croatian band played at the ceremony and throughout dinner.
• Sandy wore a gorgeous ivory lace gown for the ceremony, while her bridesmaids wore traditional East Indian attire.
• Customary Croatian shots of fine cognacs and grappa were served to guests upon arrival at the reception.
• A Dhol drummer escorted the newlyweds into their reception for the grand entrance.
• A mix of Western and Eastern cuisine was served which included family favourites from both sides.
• DJ Pat from Premiere DJs by Urban Metropolis played a fusion of Indian dance music, Top 40, R&B and classic Croatian polkas!

Sandy + Steve wanted their winter wedding to be dramatic, romantic, elegant and bold. We let the stunning glass ceilings at The Enjoy Centre serve as inspiration for the design, allowing the deep blue night sky to shine through and enhancing it with additional blue lighting around the perimeter of the space. White and gold textured lighting was used to breakup the blue, mimicking twinkling stars. Metallic elements were carried throughout the design to ensure the sparkle of winter was present, while rich tones of cranberry and red florals brought vibrancy and life to the tables. Megan + Eric decided to host a weekend destination wedding at one of their favorite locations – The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. They wanted their guests to enjoy a sumptuous, romantic winter getaway, while incorporating unique elements to personalize the day.

Upon arrival, guests received welcome packages in their hotel rooms which included some of the couple’s favourite treats and snacks, mountain-themed components to tie into the destination, as well as a weekend itinerary postcard with a personalized thank you note. At the reception dinner tables, “guest libs” (mad libs) cards were placed at each setting on the other side of the menu. Guests filled in the blanks to Megan + Eric’s love story with their own creative adjectives – this was such a fun keepsake and an excellent alternative to a traditional guest book!

To convey a warm, romantic feeling with wintery undertones, we based the wedding design around a palette of mixed metallics and warm pastels. “Winter sparkle” was included in elements throughout the wedding design – from the glitter paper used in the stationery, to champagne sequin overlays, to the custom sparkly silver aisle runner. Black suede chair pads on dark gold diamond back chairs enhanced the medieval characteristics of Mount Stephen Hall.

Danijela + Zoran were married on a perfect fall day.  The leaves were a beautiful golden yellow and the sun was shining with blue skies.

Both from Serbian heritage, they wanted a timeless, elegant wedding that included some of their shared cultural traditions. After a traditional ceremony at Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. John, guests made their way to Chateau Lacombe hotel in downtown Edmonton, where the ballroom sparkled with champagne and gold accents against a neutral ivory and taupe palette.

Arizona is a popular vacation and winter home destination for many Albertans – why not celebrate your wedding in the warm, dry heat with spectacular sunsets and stunning desert backdrops?!

Paula + Sheldon did just that. To celebrate their love and unite their two families, they decided to host a destination wedding experience in one of their favorite locations: Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North. A luxury hotel nestled in the foothills of Pinnacle Peak, this has been a special place since they first met, and was a natural choice for their wedding weekend location.

Friday kicked off the weekend events with an early morning golf tournament at The Boulders Golf Club – one of the top 12 golf resorts in the world. Later that evening, we welcomed guests with a casual Cowboy Cookout at Proof Restaurant overlooking the McDowell Mountains. Attendees were encouraged to wear western attire, and the menu was rich with hearty southwestern favorites.

The wedding day arrived with clear blue skies and sunshine. The ceremony was held outdoors on the Four Seasons Troon Lawn overlooking a picturesque desert scene. Immediately following the ceremony, guests were served drinks and canapés on a nearby terrace while the lawn was transformed for dinner. At the reception guests enjoyed a 4-course meal and several heartfelt toasts. As a surprise for the groom from his bride, we arranged for a spectacular fireworks display timed perfectly after one minute of their first dance outdoors under the stars!

Still brimming with excitement after the fireworks spectacle, guests were ushered into the Ironwood Ballroom for the after-party, where music from top Arizona DJs Desert House Productions filled the ballroom with expectant energy. Flooded with pink, orange and purple lighting, the space was designed to convey a desert sunset, signifying the end to an amazing weekend of events.
