Edmonton Wedding Coordinator: Jillian + Ryan
Two creative spirits, Jillian + Ryan ‘s wedding day was a perfect reflection of their personalities and talents. They shared a ‘first look’ at their beautifully appointed home that only a few months earlier had been featured in Avenue Magazine. An outdoor photo session with Nicole Ashley preceded their wedding ceremony and reception that were fittingly held at the Art Gallery of Alberta.
In collaboration with Cory Christopher, Jill + Ryan added organic yet modern décor elements to the AGA’s blank canvas. Ryan is a talented designer and made many of the creative pieces showcased at the wedding, including the wooden centrepieces and concrete votive candleholders on the tables.
The newlyweds surprised all their guests when they performed a duet as part of their thank-you speech. The song transitioned to the dance floor to kick off the party!
Having recently run into them at another family wedding we were fortunate to be a part of, it warmed my heart to see Jill + Ryan so happy and even more in love. Enjoy the photos below by Nicole Ashley, along with the incredible super 8mm highlight film by Arrow Films.

Edmonton Wedding Coordinator: Jeanine + Daniel
It’s always exciting to produce an event in a new venue, so we were thrilled when Jeanine and Daniel decided to hold their modern wedding reception at Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel. Open since Spring 2014, Renaissance YEG is a refreshingly contemporary spot to throw a party. We love their metal tabletops and sleek white styling.
Jeanine + Daniel held their ceremony at Dan’s childhood church – Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Sherwood Park. The wedding party had ample time to take photos in the afternoon before heading to the Renaissance to freshen up for the reception.
With a large guest list, mixing table designs – including rounds, squares and rectangles – added interest to the ballroom. Site 6 constructed a unique geometric backdrop matching the stationery design that Pinkpolka had created for Jeanine + Daniel’s invitations. An all-white dessert table featured tooth cookies since they’re both dentists and met in dental school!
Daniel and his groomsmen surprised Jeanine with a dance performance at the reception! It was to a mash-up of songs including boy band hits by Backstreet Boys and Bruno Mars – they did an incredible job and are clearly missing their calling in the entertainment industry.
Integra Films was on hand to capture the performance – check out the video here – and below is a sampling of gorgeous photos by Nicole Ashley.

Edmonton Wedding Coordinator: Christine + Adam
Both kind, genuine and loving people, it was easy to see why these two belong together. Christine + Adam shared their day with loved ones on Adam’s family acreage just north of Edmonton.
The wedding events were held in multiple areas around the property. A lush garden ceremony, cocktails in the quonset, a large white tent reception, and later – dancing under twinkling stars and café lights. It was truly a magical day.
Enjoy a glimpse at this very special day with gorgeous photography by Jill Coursen, as featured in the Spring/Summer 2017 issue of Blush Magazine.

Edmonton Wedding Planner: Kari Ann + Trent
Kari Ann + Trent knew exactly what kind of wedding they wanted: Sophisticated, Luxurious and Timeless. These words perfectly describe them as a couple too, which is precisely what your wedding should be – a reflection of your personalities and your relationship.
The ceremony was held in the iconic Hotel Macdonald Wedgwood Room, followed by refreshments and mingling with their guests on the terrace. We transitioned the all-white, classic design of the ceremony into a more bold and edgy look at the reception. Long rectangle tables with modern white florals suited the Art Gallery space perfectly.
Geometric design elements added a contemporary edge, beginning with gorgeous custom black and gold foil invitations by Pinkpolka. We used gold geometric place mats underneath glass charger plates, and custom gold acrylic laser cut names greeted each guest, doubling as both place card and favour.
After the meal and toasts guests hit the dance floor, and cotton candy on glow sticks brought next-level fun to this one-of-a-kind event! Just Married Photography did such an awesome job capturing the details of the day, not to mention shots of the STUNNING Bride + Groom.

Edmonton Wedding Coordinator: Kara + Adam
Kara + Adam jetted off to Jamaica for their nuptials at Sandals Whitehouse (see more of their destination wedding on Style Me Pretty).
One month later, they celebrated in Edmonton with a chic reception for their family and friends at the Art Gallery of Alberta. Their evening cocktail party reception was one of timeless sophistication with crisp white furniture, modern florals and a show-stopping dance floor. We loved the mixed seating and minimalist design that our friends at OneWest Events executed for our discerning couple.

Wedding Favour Ideas That Will Wow Your Guests
*Sponsored Post*
Let’s face it, other than your vows, your guests are one of the most important things about your wedding. Your wonderful friends and family will be descending from multiple corners of the world, often taking time off from work to ensure that they can be with you on your special day. While you and your soon-to-be are the stars of the show, wedding favours are a great way to make your guests feel appreciated for their presence and support.
Sweet Treats: Edible favours are guaranteed to please your wedding guests. You can make these gifts yourself, or go out and buy them, then portion them into small sizes which are easy to package or wrap up and decorate with personalized packaging. Consider mini chocolate bars, cake pops, cookies or candies.
Get Crafty: DIY wedding favours can be inexpensive, and add a personal handmade touch to make your guests feel welcome. Some of our favourite ideas? Homemade jellies or chutneys, hangover care packages, s’mores kits or origami.

Practical Wedding Favours: Wedding favour gifts don’t have to be cute or decorative – they can also be really useful. Are you planning a beach wedding? Consider giving your guests a hand-held fan to keep themselves cool on the big day. Other ideas include personalized water bottles or luggage tags for destination weddings.

On A Shoestring? No Problem! It’s easy to provide meaningful wedding favour gifts, even if you are on a tight budget. Here are some ideas for you:
- Chocolate coated strawberries served upon arrival
- Mini buckets filled with popcorn for each table
- Disposable cameras
- Hand written thank you notes that double as escort cards
Thematic Wedding Favour Ideas: Why not enhance your theme with your wedding favours?
- Seaside theme: anchor bottle openers or nautical tissue packs
- Winter theme: hot chocolate or chapsticks with customized winter designs
- Spring theme: mini potted plants or seeds your guests can plant in their gardens

First Look Photos
More and more couples are choosing to break tradition and see each other before they walk down the aisle. Referred to as a “first look,” it is when the to-be-weds see one another in their wedding attire with their photo and video team present to document the moment. Most couples then spend a couple of hours taking photos with their wedding party before heading to the ceremony to say I Do.
While this change of format isn’t for everyone, taking photos before the ceremony is a great idea for a few reasons:
- Feeling fresh. Taking photos right after you get ready means your hair and makeup will be at their best. (This also applies to your flowers!)
- Capture the moment. Your photo and video team will ensure this special moment is captured at all angles, with no risk of Uncle Hank’s iPad obstructing the view.
- Keep calm and marry on. If you’re the anxious type, hanging out and taking photos with the bridal party will help you relax before the ceremony.
- Gone with the gap. Getting photos out of the way before the ceremony saves your guests the painful wait in between events, and allows you to spend more time visiting with them. This is particularly convenient if both ceremony and reception are being held at the same venue.
Here are some amazing photos of JBW couples sharing their first look!

Inspiration to Reality: Anita + Ben
Anita + Ben’s wedding design blended a romantic colour palette with modern geometric shapes. Beginning with their invitations, we worked with Pinkpolka to develop patterns that had an edgy, unique look while using materials and colours that were timeless and romantic. This inspired us to tie the geometric shapes into their ceremony and head table backdrops, a custom DJ booth, as well as the wedding cake.
The inspiration:
