Living in Alberta, winter is something you must embrace, or you’re in for a long 5 – maybe 6, sometimes 7 – months! Erin and Adam chose to do just that by holding their February wedding in one of Canada’s most spectacular destination wedding locations: Lake Louise. Their two main priorities for the wedding were to extend the festivities over the course of an entire weekend, and to provide guests with a quintessential winter experience in the Canadian Rockies.

The weekend began Friday morning with a chartered motor coach driving Edmonton guests to The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Following a delicious rehearsal dinner in the Alpine Room, guests gathered for hot chocolate and s’mores by the lakeside fire pits and ice bar. On the morning of the wedding, Adam and his groomsmen hosted a pick-up hockey game on the frozen lake, while the ladies enjoyed a leisurely morning in their suite getting ready for the big day.

After exchanging vows in the Victoria Ballroom, the newlyweds went off for photos with their wedding party while guests departed on horse-drawn sleigh rides! Our team spent the next few hours transforming the ballroom with long wooden tables, lush greenery runners, tons of candlesticks and gold accents. The party continued in the Glacier Saloon where late night snacks including poutine and sliders were served, and dancing in hotel slippers went on until the early hours of the morning.

For C+B, The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is not just a beautiful mountain resort. It holds special meaning in their relationship, as it is where they first met while attending a conference as University students. Ten years later, they chose to hold their wedding here – on Valentine’s Day. It doesn’t get more romantic than that!

For privacy reasons we aren’t sharing any photos of the happy couple and their guests, but we wanted to showcase some of the gorgeous décor we designed, and acknowledge the talented team of event professionals who helped bring this day to life.

• The luxurious custom invitation and stationery suite by Palettera featured gold foil application and letterpress printing, with custom illustrations of places of significance to their love story. The invitations were delivered in gorgeous boxes lined with red rose paper and finished with satin ribbon.
• Guest tables were dressed in cream overlays with embroidered appliques, giving a soft and romantic look to the Beauvert Ballroom. Natural Manzanita tree centrepieces designed by fabLOOMosity twinkled with gold votives that hung from the branches, while a base of hydrangea and lush garden roses spilled onto the tables. Pearl glass charger plates, cranberry napkins and letterpress menus completed each setting.
• The 18-person wedding party sat at a dramatic King’s Table covered in a lush floral tablescape of textural greens, cream and burgundy blooms, and ample candlelight.
• The Art of Cake designed a gorgeous four-tier cake covered in hand-sculpted gold petals.

Catherine + Neal’s Royal Mayfair Golf Club wedding was recently featured in Edmonton’s own Bridal Fantasy Magazine. 

They chose to incorporate traditions from both of their backgrounds. Neal and his groomsmen wore Scottish kilts and his grandmother gave a blessing in Gaelic before dinner. To represent Catherine’s Polish side, perogies and cabbage rolls were served at the rehearsal dinner and the marriage commissioner said a few words in Polish before the ceremony began. A very unique element of the ceremony was a Celtic handfasting using the official tartans of Alberta and Nova Scotia, representing the bride and groom’s places of birth.

Their favourite moment of the day? “Seeing each other for the first time was both awesome and hilarious. The anticipation and excitement is so evident in the photos. Our other favourite part was listening to everyone’s speeches. Each of them was so heartfelt and funny – we felt very special.”

Beena + Craig’s wedding last summer was a fusion of two diverse, vibrant cultures: East Indian and Guyanese. Living apart to pursue their careers, they opted for a longer engagement in order to pace out the wedding planning decisions. We made the most of our emails, calls and whirlwind planning weekends to arrange their festive 400-guest celebration at All Saints Anglican Cathedral and Meridian Banquets.

Featured on Elizabeth Anne Designs blog, Lisa + Marc’s modern wedding is one of my favourite designs from our 2013 season. The day began at St. Joachim Catholic Parish – one of the most beautiful churches in Edmonton. The wedding party took photos on the U of A campus where Lisa + Marc had met (and spent plenty of time over the years)!

Signature cocktails welcomed guests to the reception in the Riverview Room at Shaw Conference Centre, where bold geometric patterns and pops of green and navy brightened a classic cream and black palette. The dynamic duo from Diamond Cake Photography captured all the emotions of their day. Enjoy!
