Kyle + Chase…where do I begin. They are two of the most kind-hearted gentlemen I know, and anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting them knows they will bend over backwards for their loved ones. Oh, and they’re unbelievably handsome. It’s obvious, but deserves acknowledgment!

It was a perfect summer day at the Fort Edmonton Blatchford Air Hangar. The wedding combined black tie formality (guests dressed in black, white or grey) with an outdoor, carefree vibe – a theme that is very reflective of Kyle + Chase’s personalities.

They exchanged vows under a live tree covered with ribbons and over 3,000 paper cranes. The first dance (Tracy Chapman’s ‘The Promiss’) was performed by singer/songwriter Krystle Dos Santos, while guests lit sparklers and surrounded the happy couple. It was truly a magical moment!

Lindsay + Ben are such a sweet couple. Their October wedding day was filled with big, warm smiles from all their family and friends. I just love the look on Ben’s face as he sees Lindsay walk down the aisle at St. Albert Catholic Parish!

Their timeless ivory and gold reception at Matrix Hotel featured a killer candy bar and amazing entertainment – duelling pianists Jesse Peters and Tiff Hall kept guests on the dance floor all night!

Two of my closest friends were married in Victoria last fall, and I had the honour of playing double duty as wedding planner and guest! The seaside ceremony and intimate reception were held at Brentwood Bay Resort & Spa – a luxurious getaway named one of the Top 10 Resorts in Canada by Condé Nast Traveler.

Katrina + David were married in a beautiful outdoor ceremony last summer at Edmonton’s Royal Glenora Club. The sun was shining, the skies were blue – you’d never guess there was a torrential downpour just one hour before the ceremony was scheduled to begin! Luckily with some great teamwork we swapped out the chair cushions just in time to seat guests and send Katrina down the aisle looking absolutely angelic.

Just For You Photography was on hand to capture all the beautiful moments of the day, including the couple’s “first look” at The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald. After the wedding Katrina + David enjoyed an amazing honeymoon in Italy!

Wendy + Ian’s wedding was published in WedLuxe Magazine’s Winter/Spring 2014 issue, but we haven’t yet blogged it! In honour of their first anniversary (today!), here’s a look at their incredible wedding at The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.

The week leading up to the wedding was quite eventful as the area suffered catastrophic flooding, resulting in the highway being closed. Thankfully it reopened just a couple days before the wedding and everything carried on as planned. We also lucked out with a warm and sunny day for the outdoor ceremony set on Bow Valley Terrace with a postcard-perfect view.

With locations in both north and south Edmonton, Yogalife Studios offers a variety of drop-in yoga classes, workshops and registered courses in both heated and regular temperatures. Yoga is a great way to gain strength and flexibility, and it is a wonderful complement to other sports and activities, such as running and weight lifting. Hot yoga can also be great for the skin which is another plus for a soon-to-be bride!

Instructor Lindsey Park offers these tips to make the most of your yoga practice:

• Hydrate well throughout the day or the hours before practice.
• Eat clean and light, and not too close to the time you are planning to practice. Waiting 2-3 hours after eating is suggested.
• Choose light, comfortable clothing that moves well with your body.
• Give yourself plenty of time to get changed and settled at the studio (arriving 15-30 minutes before class is advised). You don’t want to feel frazzled or rushed coming into your practice.
• Bring a yoga mat, a towel and a water bottle.

You’ve probably heard the buzz around Edmonton’s Barre Body Studio. A blend of ballet, Pilates and yoga, Barre fitness is the hottest new workout trend since Zumba! Low impact movements and isometric holds create long, lean muscles giving you a toned look without causing injuries. Barre will improve your posture, making you stand prouder and taller on your big day.

All you need is water and a pair of grip socks, which can be purchased at the Barre Studio. Weights, resistance bands, mats and exercise balls are all supplied as needed in your class. We asked owner Megan Clark about what to expect when trying Barre for the first time:

“Watch and listen carefully to the instructor and follow along as best you can. Everyone works at their own level – if necessary, take a break and rest for a few reps. The movements are very small and controlled so no one has to worry about looking silly and out of place. Be prepared to rock out to awesome tunes and to feel muscles that you’ve never felt before!”
