JBW is looking to expand our team of Assistant and Lead Coordinators. We are seeking professional, enthusiastic people who are the right fit to join our high-performing team. Details of the available positions and application instructions are listed below – please read carefully, this is your first test!

POSITION 1: Assistant Coordinator

This position is seasonal and casual, however opportunities for growth are always available for the right individual. Most work is on weekends from May through October. This role is perfect for someone who wants to add to their income and/or skillset with a side job. You do not need to have experience in Wedding or Event Planning – we will train you.

DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES

• The Assistant Coordinator provides support to the Lead Coordinator at wedding rehearsals, ceremonies and receptions.
  • Rehearsals typically occur on Thursday or Friday evenings and are about 1 hour in length.
  • Most weddings occur on Saturdays and the average shift length is 7-8 hours.
  • Most of our Assistant Coordinators work between 5-10 weddings / events each year, with the majority being held in the summer months.
• Basic décor setup will be required. This involves physical work with light to medium lifting, and a lot of time on your feet.
• Late night décor teardown may be required for some events.

SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma and completion of / enrollment in some post-secondary program.
• Enthusiastic and eager to learn.
• Excellent listener with the ability to follow direction well.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stay calm and composed under pressure.
• Professional – in both appearance and the way you carry yourself.
• Personable, friendly and a good fit for our team.
• Able to provide your own reliable transportation and cell phone on event days.

POSITION 2: Lead Coordinator

This position is part-time/casual to start, with the goal of increasing your workload into 2021 and beyond. It is perfect for someone who has flexibility with their schedule and the ability to grow with us. You do not need to have experience in Wedding or Event Planning – we will train you.

DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work directly with Wedding Day Management clients to manage all logistics leading up to the event.
• Lead and execute the wedding rehearsal, ceremony and reception:
  • Rehearsals typically occur on Thursday or Friday evenings and are about 1 hour in length.
  • Most weddings occur on Saturdays and the average time on site is 12-14 hours.
• Provide leadership, direction and supervision to your team of Assistant Coordinators.
• Basic décor setup will be required. This involves physical work with light to medium lifting, and a lot of time on your feet.
• Late night décor teardown may be required for some events.

SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONS

• Excellent communication skills – includes having fantastic email etiqutte and confidence in social situations.
• Ability to work independently without supervision: mature, responsible and reliable.

• Able to provide your own reliable transportation, cell phone and laptop computer.

One of the most exciting elements of planning your wedding is finding the dress of your dreams. Here in Edmonton, the wedding dress scene has blossomed, and we’re fortunate to have some stylish and savvy local boutiques at our fingertips. Before you get started, here are a few tips to make the most of your gown shopping experience:

1. Shop early. Gowns can take 6 to 8 months to order; the alteration process can take up to 2 months. Keep these timeline in mind and give yourself plenty of time before your wedding day to avoid stress and costly rush charges.
2. Choose your crew wisely. Too many opinions can be overwhelming and may confuse the selection process. Bring just a few of your besties or family members who will support you and your wedding vision.
3. Be open minded. Don’t be afraid to surprise yourself! You might fall in love with a dress that you didn’t expect to like on the hangar.
4. Set a budget. Establish a realistic budget and stick to it. It’s tempting to try on gowns that are outside of your budget but the can lead to some major disappointment.

Although unexpected, an early October snowfall left a pretty white dusting over the Edmonton landscape that only added to the romance of Brianna + Anthony’s wedding day. They were the third generation from the Groom’s side of the family to be married at Josephburg Community Church, making it an extra special and meaningful day.

Brianna had been dreaming of her wedding since she was a little girl, but she didn’t want to fall in line with a traditional white wedding. She envisioned something bold and unique, with wow factor details! The Art Gallery of Alberta was the perfect venue to host this modern, glamorous affair.

Black draping and ambient lighting set the stage for show-stopping décor. Long wooden harvest tables covered in lush greens and a boxwood hedge backdrop behind the head table transformed the minimalist gallery into a lush garden. Fabloomosity used so many interesting florals and textural elements to create dramatic “art” pieces for the round tables.

Shortly after the wedding, Brianna + Anthony headed to the majestic Rocky Mountains for an “after session” with Carey Nash. We couldn’t resist including some of these images below, and you can view more of this stunning wedding in the Fall / Winter 2017 issue of Blush Magazine.

J+M’s August wedding was the perfect blend of romance and celebration! We designed the day to be timeless with a lush garden theme. Fittingly, the ceremony was held at the beautiful Devonian Gardens and featured a stunning chuppah covered in greenery, curly willow, vibrant florals and fruit.

The reception was held at Edmonton Country Club – a gem tucked away in the River Valley with outstanding service and food. We setup a tent on the patio over the dance floor, creating a most excellent outdoor dance party setting. Inside the event space long rectangle tables were covered with lush greenery, gold candelabras, florals and fruits, including pears, apples, grapes, strawberries and plums. Gold Chateau chairs, ornate glass charger plates and timeless stationery completed the table design.

This wedding incorporated several different cultural traditions: a traditional Chinese Lion Dance for the couple’s grand entrance, a Ukrainian dance performance by the Cheremosh Dance Company to kick off the party, and Jewish Hora dancing to continue the celebrations. It was such a delight for guests to see these unique customs woven together to celebrate the newlyweds!

The Pavilion at Silvertip Resort in Canmore was the perfect Rocky Mountain venue for Maureen + Tyler’s winter wedding getaway.

It was important to Maureen + Tyler that the weekend was a celebration filled with personalized touches, wow-factor décor, and fun! The weekend kicked off with a welcome cocktail party in the penthouse suite at Grande Rockies Resort, and the fun continued with a killer dance party and soft serve ice cream station to finish off the evening festivities.
