High school sweethearts, Mariah + Nathan have a love for tradition and an affinity for Old World Romance, making The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald the perfect setting to celebrate their love story.

It was a complete hotel takeover, with Team JBW working hard the morning of the wedding to transform three different spaces. After a touching ceremony in the Wedgwood Ballroom, guests joined the newlyweds on the terrace for a garden party complete with refreshments, live music and caricature artists. Cocktails were held in the Empire Foyer, where guests mingled and snapped candids in a photo booth to help make a memorable guest book for Mariah + Nathan.

The doors to the Empire Ballroom opened, unveiling timeless décor, with English Garden inspired florals in soft creams and pinks. The first of many surprises throughout the evening, Mariah + Nathan entered the ballroom sharing their first dance to singer and pianist Lindsey Nagy’s rendition of A Thousand Years. The festivities continued with a 5-course meal, a delicious “sweet bar,” signature drinks poured through a custom ice luge, a surprise hip hop performance, and two dress changes!

For C+B, The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is not just a beautiful mountain resort. It holds special meaning in their relationship, as it is where they first met while attending a conference as University students. Ten years later, they chose to hold their wedding here – on Valentine’s Day. It doesn’t get more romantic than that!

For privacy reasons we aren’t sharing any photos of the happy couple and their guests, but we wanted to showcase some of the gorgeous décor we designed, and acknowledge the talented team of event professionals who helped bring this day to life.

• The luxurious custom invitation and stationery suite by Palettera featured gold foil application and letterpress printing, with custom illustrations of places of significance to their love story. The invitations were delivered in gorgeous boxes lined with red rose paper and finished with satin ribbon.
• Guest tables were dressed in cream overlays with embroidered appliques, giving a soft and romantic look to the Beauvert Ballroom. Natural Manzanita tree centrepieces designed by fabLOOMosity twinkled with gold votives that hung from the branches, while a base of hydrangea and lush garden roses spilled onto the tables. Pearl glass charger plates, cranberry napkins and letterpress menus completed each setting.
• The 18-person wedding party sat at a dramatic King’s Table covered in a lush floral tablescape of textural greens, cream and burgundy blooms, and ample candlelight.
• The Art of Cake designed a gorgeous four-tier cake covered in hand-sculpted gold petals.

These two high school sweethearts are truly made for one another. Julie lights up a room when she enters – she’s a bundle of energy and positivity, always wearing a huge smile on her face. Kyle is a calming presence – very kind and patient, but still knows how to let loose and have fun. It was such a pleasure working with this duo to bring their special day to life!

After a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Parish, Julie + Kyle’s guests made their way to Fort Edmonton Park where the Hangar was staged for the perfect rustic, summer soirée. The big open space allowed kids to run free, while the summer breeze blew in to cool guests down on a warm September day.

Lush floral garlands in warm tones of peach, coral, yellow and blush were swagged down the aisle and hung behind the head table. Antlers, succulents and wooden logs brought the outdoors in, enhancing the organic, natural ambiance of the setting. {More on the inspiration behind this wedding design here!}

We surrounded a large wooden dance floor with cocktail tables, benches and tree stump stools to keep everyone engaged with the party. Once the dance was underway, La Poutine food truck pulled up just outside the Hangar doors to serve the perfect Canadiana late night snack!

When we first met Linda + Marcus they shared that the movie Up! has special meaning in their relationship, so including balloons in their wedding celebrations was a given.

Known for telling stories through their photography, Infused Studios were the perfect fit to document Linda + Marcus’ special day. Their Up! themed engagement session was featured on Love & Lavender! We also incorporated balloons down the aisle at their gorgeous Magrath Mansion ceremony.

The reception was held at one of our favourite Edmonton wedding venues – The Art Gallery of Alberta – where gold metallic elements were paired with vibrant shades of purple to create a striking design. It’s hard to believe it has nearly been one year since the big day!

Melanie + Chris wanted a fun, easy experience for their guests, so they opted to have both ceremony and reception in the same location – Fort Edmonton Park’s Blatchford Air Hangar. The day was warm and sunny which worked perfectly for our outdoor ceremony plans.

The classic black and cream palette provided a neat juxtaposition to the rustic venue. We brought the outdoors in with pops of fresh green throughout the floral arrangements, and the altar was flanked by two gorgeous curly willow and moss “trees” with hanging glass orbs and candles.

As a focal point at the reception, we designed a scrumptious black and white dessert table featuring: apple pies (Chris’ favourite), cupcakes, Oreo cheesecake, chocolate whoopie pies, white chocolate mousse cups, dark chocolate dipped pretzel sticks and more!

Melanie’s father restored a vintage Jaguar for photos which looked amazing parked in front of the Hangar and worked so great as a photo prop! Late lunch came rolling in on a vintage fire truck with a built-in wood fired pizza oven courtesy of Canicus Catering.

Carly + Taylor’s Canmore wedding at Silvertip Resort combined their love of the mountains, winter and rustic elegance.

Set against a gorgeous stone fireplace covered in a garland of greens and lush roses, their ceremony was romantic and touching. The most adorable team of flower girls and ring bearers added to the sweetness!

We covered the tables in a soft grey linen and added wooden chiavari chairs for an elegant touch that complemented the wooden beams of the venue. Carly and her mom collected and stained wooden crates to use as centrepieces, and touches of lace and organic elements provided the perfect combination of rustic and pretty.

Nicole + Blake were married at the Castle of the Rocky Mountains – The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. We worked with this fun-loving couple from start to finish to plan and design their mountain destination wedding.

The wedding was designed to enhance the dramatic elegance of the venue with a non-traditional colour palette to reflect the unique personal styles of the bride and groom. Mixed metallics and laser-cut stationery details hinted at the medieval characteristics of the hotel, while lush brightly coloured florals added romance and femininity. Some unique décor elements included a custom black glitter aisle runner, a metal seating chart and laser cut place card wraps around the napkins.

Guests received two custom flavours of fudge from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory that were hand selected by the bride and groom. They also took home an evergreen seedling plant in honour of Nicole’s late father. Duelling pianists were brought in as the evening entertainment, and they kept guests on the dance floor all night long!
