Alyshea + Al-Karim (Part 2): Aga Khan Garden Wedding Ceremony
On the heels of their Mehndi celebration, Alyshea and Al-Karim’s wedding ceremony was held at the new 4.8-hectare Aga Khan Garden – gifted by His Highness the Aga Khan. With a stunning waterfall set as the backdrop to their vows, nearly 400 guests gathered to witness their beautiful Ismaili ceremony. Bollywood singer-actor Shweta Pandit sang the couple down the aisle, and a Rubab-Tabla duo filled the gardens with traditional music.
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed appetizers and refreshing rose sharbat as they mingled with the newlyweds before heading to the Gala Reception later that evening. You don’t want to miss the final post in this series – coming soon!
This wedding is not only featured on Wedluxe, but it was also honoured as a finalist for Best Wedding over $150,000 at the 2020 Canadian Event Awards!

Aga Khan Garden Wedding Ceremony Edmonton
Edmonton Wedding Planner: Edmonton Country Club Wedding
J+M’s August wedding was the perfect blend of romance and celebration! We designed the day to be timeless with a lush garden theme. Fittingly, the ceremony was held at the beautiful Devonian Gardens and featured a stunning chuppah covered in greenery, curly willow, vibrant florals and fruit.
The reception was held at Edmonton Country Club – a gem tucked away in the River Valley with outstanding service and food. We setup a tent on the patio over the dance floor, creating a most excellent outdoor dance party setting. Inside the event space long rectangle tables were covered with lush greenery, gold candelabras, florals and fruits, including pears, apples, grapes, strawberries and plums. Gold Chateau chairs, ornate glass charger plates and timeless stationery completed the table design.
This wedding incorporated several different cultural traditions: a traditional Chinese Lion Dance for the couple’s grand entrance, a Ukrainian dance performance by the Cheremosh Dance Company to kick off the party, and Jewish Hora dancing to continue the celebrations. It was such a delight for guests to see these unique customs woven together to celebrate the newlyweds!

Edmonton Wedding Planner: Tracy + Troy
When I first started working with Tracy + Troy they weren’t exactly sure what they wanted for their wedding, but they knew it had to be very unique. As plans developed, we decided to break tradition and throw a chic cocktail party reception in Shaw Conference Centre’s gorgeous Riverview Room.
Following a beautiful outdoor ceremony at Devonian Botanic Gardens, Tracy + Troy’s guests were greeted at the reception with champagne, live music and delicious hors d’oeuvres. In lieu of standard wedding favours, guests were given portraits of themselves drawn live by two talented caricature artists – Gerry Rasmussen and Laurél Hawkswell. This was a big hit!
The stunning photos below were taken by Sam and Natasha of Sam Ng Photography – they are always so wonderful to work with! Enjoy this look at Tracy + Troy’s stylish day:
Tracy purchased her gorgeous gown from Novelle Bridal Shop.
I know…stunning shoes!
…but Troy would not be outdone!
Terry McDade played the harp beautifully at the ceremony.
All flowers – including these awesome pomander balls – were created by La Piazza Dasee.
As a tribute to her Scottish heritage, Tracy was piped down the aisle by a family friend and escorted by her father who wore a traditional kilt.
Gorgeous!
Tracy and her beautiful bridesmaids carried feather parasols that came in handy on this hot, sunny day.
A champagne ice sculpture allowed guests to keep their glasses filled all night.
Guests took their caricature drawings home in tubes that Tracy wrapped in black and white patterned paper.
Instead of a head table, we setup a V.I.P. lounge area for the bridal party to visit with guests.
Uber-modern lampshade centrepieces worked perfectly with the room and vibe of the party.
Tracy, Troy: it was an absolute pleasure working with you to design your urban chic wedding. All the very best to you both as you begin this new chapter in your lives!
