Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Wedding, Part 3: Ceremony + Reception
The final day of events for Sonya and Rahul’s Rocky Mountain destination wedding included the wedding ceremony and reception gala.
The Wedding Ceremony embraced visual restraint. A custom-built 12-foot circular stage finished in whitewashed cedar ensured clear sightlines while preserving the natural mountain panorama. The simplicity focused attention on the ritual itself and heightened the emotional impact of the setting. Floral compositions were arranged in homogeneous clusters – greens, cream, and butter yellow blooms – appearing as if organically growing from the plateau like a meandering alpine meadow.
The final reception pivoted again, this time toward formal glamour. The design concept evolved from Rahul’s love of orca whales, expressed through a bold black-and-white foundation, layered with emerald and forest greens to reconnect to the Rockies. A custom black-and-white diamond dance floor with the couple’s monogram anchored the room, while a 16’ x 16’ chandelier canopy dripping in twinkling lights established vertical drama. Emerald linens, brass accents, and contemporary floral compositions layered depth and richness against the ballroom’s architecture. Candlelight and controlled lighting temperatures were used strategically to create a moody, romantic atmosphere that evolved throughout the evening.
Across all five events, the narrative remained consistent: landscape, culture, travel, and personal history woven into immersive environments. Rather than designing a series of visually beautiful spaces, the weekend unfolded as a cinematic progression – each chapter reflecting a different facet of the couple’s story while remaining rooted in the mountains that inspired it.

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Wedding, Part 2: Haldi + Sangeet
The second day of events for Sonya and Rahul’s destination wedding in Jasper, Canada featured the Haldi Ceremony and the Sangeet.
A Haldi ceremony is a joyous pre-wedding ritual where a paste of tumeric, sandalwood, and oils is applie to the couple to purify, protect, and bless them for a prosperous life. Vibrant citrus tones and organic textures created a warm, celebratory atmosphere. The ceremonial backdrop was positioned between two existing trees and enhanced with suspended florals and ribbons, baskets of bountiful citrus, and native greenery. The design elevated the natural setting, rather than overpower it.
In contrast, the Northern Lights themed Sangeet embraced saturation and drama. The Beauvert Ballroom was fully draped and transformed using layered lighting in jewel-toned purples, fuchsia, cobalt, teal, and lime. White lounge furnishings were deliberately selected to reflect and amplify the dynamic lighting palette. A 20-foot fabric entrance tunnel created anticipation before releasing guests into a vibrant, textural celebration space. Centrepieces included ornate gold lanterns and Indian-inspired vessels, vibrant blooms, and statement tropical greens. The aesthetic energized guests and supported an evening centered on performance and dancing.

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Wedding Part 1: The Welcome Party

In May 2025, Sonya and Rahul gathered 200 guests from across the United States in the heart of the Canadian Rockies for a four-day Hindu wedding celebration at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Set against sweeping alpine vistas – just months after devastating wildfires brought tourism in the region to a standstill – their wedding was both a deeply personal milestone and a conscious reinvestment in a community in recovery.
The first event of the weekend – The Welome Party – introduced guests to the setting through a playful interpretation of Canadian culture. Denim-inspired fashion, a canoe bar, regional food and beverage and lawn games immediately established a sense of place and relaxed guests into the destination environment. The informal aesthetic encouraged interaction and set a welcoming tone for the weekend ahead.
This destination wedding weekend received an 11-page feature in Rocky Mountain Bride Magazine’s National Volume 11 issue!

Los Cabos Wedding Planner: Kim + Pierre
“You can’t stop love.” It’s a phrase Kim + Pierre have used to describe their serendipitous relationship over the years, and again proved to be so true for their Los Cabos destination wedding.
Long story short: about a week and a half before the wedding was to take place in beautiful Cabo, we had to move up the date to 4 days earlier! A change in Pierre’s work schedule meant that he could only be in Cabo for 24 hours (say what!?) – but Kim + Pierre took it all in stride and knew that the most important outcome of the entire trip was that they would be husband and wife.
Everything had to be moved- the venue, hair, makeup, transportation, décor, flowers. We were very lucky that all our wonderful suppliers were so accommodating and able to make the new date work. The experience reiterated why Cabo is one of our favourite spots for destination weddings.
And so the whirlwind wedding began, first with a surprise legal ceremony at the Edmonton International Airport in the early hours of the morning! Then we boarded the plane with the newlyweds and made our way to Cabo, landing mid-afternoon. The group was transported to our incredible resort – Secrets Puerto Los Cabos – and I took off to the wedding venue while the ladies began hair and makeup.
The symbolic ceremony and reception were both held at Sunset Da Mona Lisa – rated one of the Top 5 Coolest Restaurants in the World! I was in awe of the view and have to share this photo I took during setup at sunset – absolutely breathtaking!
It was a busy and action-packed day, but certainly the most memorable wedding experience I’ve had to date. Kim + Pierre’s friends and family were so welcoming and it was so much fun to share this adventure with them.
Kim + Pierre’s incredible wedding story was featured in The Edmonton Journal, and photographer Kelly Redinger does a beautiful job sharing this wedding on his blog.

In the Limelight: The Crane Barbados
Considering a destination wedding to a tropical location? How would you like to say your vows on one of the top ten beaches in the world?
I recently vacationed in Barbados with my husband and we absolutely loved it! We spent most of our time at The Crane Residential Resort and it was an amazing place. Here are a couple shots of the resort from our balcony:
I also had the opportunity to meet with the Wedding Coordinator at The Crane and she took me to the various sites on property available to brides and grooms for their wedding ceremonies.
The Beach Wedding
Crane Beach is a stunning stretch of pink sand beach which has been voted ‘One of the top ten beaches in the world’ by Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, and ‘One of the sexiest beaches in the world’ by the Travel Channel. The Beach Wedding backdrop is best suited for a smaller ceremony of 20 guests or less.
The Cliff Pool Wedding Garden
With a surrounding backdrop of four waterfall infinity edge pools, the Cliff Pool Wedding Garden offers a breathtaking panoramic ocean view. Suitable for up to 150 guests.
The Historic Wedding Garden
Located adjacent to the original rooms of the Marine Villa dating back to the mid 18th century, the Historical Wedding Garden overlooks the cliffside and offers an amazing view of the ocean. Up to 150 guests can be seated comfortably at this ceremony location.
The Crane Beach Pool Wedding
Located adjacent to The Crane’s Beach Pool featuring classic Doric columns and a captivating view of Crane Beach, this area with its surrounding balcony overlooking the cliff is ideal for an intimate wedding ceremony with your two witnesses.

Bride.ca Features a Jennifer Bergman Wedding!
Last week I received an email from the team at bride.ca. They wanted to profile a wedding featured on our website and I must say – I’m flattered! Turns out it’s my own wedding that they’ve chosen to highlight. You can view the feature here.
Sean and I were married at the Jasper Park Lodge in May 2008, and though I have a background in corporate events, it was really through planning my own wedding that I was inspired to start this business and help other couples bring their dream day to life. I love that weddings can be so unique and personalized to each couple, and one of my favourite parts about this “job” is getting to know my brides + grooms and finding ways to infuse personal touches into their event.
The beautiful photography is courtesy of the highly talented husband and wife duo behind James Design Studios – Julie + David.
Stay tuned for more real Rocky Mountain weddings, along with some tips and ideas to help you plan your elegant alpine affair!
