Edmonton Wedding Coordinator: Khadija + Dan
Aga Khan Gardens is one of the Edmonton area’s newest and most in-demand outdoor wedding ceremony venues. An open amphitheatre nestled within the forest, its mandate is to provide a peaceful gathering space to develop human connections.
It was such a pleasure to provide Wedding Day Management services for Khadija and Dan, who held their ceremony at the Aga Khan Gardens followed by an intimate celebration at Khazana Restaurant. See more of their wedding in Blush Magazine as part of the 2019 Venue of the Year feature.

Jenilee and John’s intimate backyard tent wedding came together with just a few months of planning. We worked together to design a day that would allow them to share their vows in front of their closest friends and family, then celebrate with a candlelit dinner and dance party under the stars. Guests were served a gourmet family style meal by the Culina Team, while enjoying custom cocktails crafted by Strong Bartending.

JBW is looking to expand our team of Assistant and Lead Coordinators. We are seeking professional, enthusiastic people who are the right fit to join our high-performing team. Details of the available positions and application instructions are listed below – please read carefully, this is your first test!
POSITION 1: Assistant Coordinator
This position is seasonal and casual, however opportunities for growth are always available for the right individual. Most work is on weekends from May through October. This role is perfect for someone who wants to add to their income and/or skillset with a side job. You do not need to have experience in Wedding or Event Planning – we will train you.
DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Assistant Coordinator provides support to the Lead Coordinator at wedding rehearsals, ceremonies and receptions.
- Rehearsals typically occur on Thursday or Friday evenings and are about 1 hour in length.
- Most weddings occur on Saturdays and the average shift length is 7-8 hours.
- Most of our Assistant Coordinators work between 5-10 weddings / events each year, with the majority being held in the summer months.
- Basic décor setup will be required. This involves physical work with light to medium lifting, and a lot of time on your feet.
- Late night décor teardown may be required for some events.
SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma and completion of / enrollment in some post-secondary program.
- Enthusiastic and eager to learn.
- Excellent listener with the ability to follow direction well.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stay calm and composed under pressure.
- Professional – in both appearance and the way you carry yourself.
- Personable, friendly and a good fit for our team.
- Able to provide your own reliable transportation and cell phone on event days.

POSITION 2: Lead Coordinator
This position is part-time/casual to start, with the goal of increasing your workload into 2021 and beyond. It is perfect for someone who has flexibility with their schedule and the ability to grow with us. You do not need to have experience in Wedding or Event Planning – we will train you.
DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work directly with Wedding Day Management clients to manage all logistics leading up to the event.
- Lead and execute the wedding rehearsal, ceremony and reception:
- Rehearsals typically occur on Thursday or Friday evenings and are about 1 hour in length.
- Most weddings occur on Saturdays and the average time on site is 12-14 hours.
- Provide leadership, direction and supervision to your team of Assistant Coordinators.
- Basic décor setup will be required. This involves physical work with light to medium lifting, and a lot of time on your feet.
- Late night décor teardown may be required for some events.
SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONS

- Impeccable organizational skills with accute attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills – includes having fantastic email etiqutte and confidence in social situations.
- Ability to work independently without supervision: mature, responsible and reliable.
- Aptitude for applying creative solutions to problems.
- Service-minded with a willingness to go above and beyond for every client, every time.
- Able to provide your own reliable transportation, cell phone and laptop computer.

At the newly opened 50th Parallel Estate Winery event centre, Sara and Melad celebrated their wedding with family and friends who joined them in the sunny Okanagan. A fusion ceremony incorporating both Persian and Catholic traditions was held at at the top of the vineyard overlooking the beautiful lake and rolling hills.

Kelowna Wedding Planner, Okanagan Wedding Planner
Banff Wedding Planner: Melena + Bayden
Living in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Melena + Bayden chose to have a destination wedding in Banff so their family and friends from across various provinces and territories could come together to celebrate over a weekend.
Their outdoor ceremony took place on Tunnel Mountain Meadow. A simple wooden cross draped in soft fabric marked the altar, and served as a beautiful symbol amidst the spectacular Rocky Mountain backdrop. We paired a romantic, airy aesthetic with the beautiful rustic setting of Buffalo Mountain Lodge, where the wedding dinner and dance were held.

Jasper Wedding Coordinator: Sarah + Andrew
One of the greatest privileges of our job as wedding planners is being invited to experience love on so many levels. The love a couple has for one another is the obvious one, but we bear witness to the incredible love parents have for their children, adoring grandparents beaming with pride, and the special bonds of childhood friends.
Love radiated throughout Sarah and Andrew’s wedding weekend at The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, and that’s a testament to their relaxed personalities and warm, welcoming natures. The weather also showed this couple some love by cooperating to give them a beautiful outdoor ceremony on Whistlers Plateau.
Cory Christopher brought the outdoors inside the Beauvert Room with lush florals and organic elements. He also expertly wove in personal touches that reflected Sarah and Andrew as individuals and as a couple. Moss “mountains” showed guests where to take their seats, pillars displayed childhood objects and photos like an exhibit – a nod to Sarah’s professional career as a curator – a canoe adorned with ferns and greenery held ice cold beer at the bar!
