J+M’s August wedding was the perfect blend of romance and celebration! We designed the day to be timeless with a lush garden theme. Fittingly, the ceremony was held at the beautiful Devonian Gardens and featured a stunning chuppah covered in greenery, curly willow, vibrant florals and fruit.

The reception was held at Edmonton Country Club – a gem tucked away in the River Valley with outstanding service and food. We setup a tent on the patio over the dance floor, creating a most excellent outdoor dance party setting. Inside the event space long rectangle tables were covered with lush greenery, gold candelabras, florals and fruits, including pears, apples, grapes, strawberries and plums. Gold Chateau chairs, ornate glass charger plates and timeless stationery completed the table design.

This wedding incorporated several different cultural traditions: a traditional Chinese Lion Dance for the couple’s grand entrance, a Ukrainian dance performance by the Cheremosh Dance Company to kick off the party, and Jewish Hora dancing to continue the celebrations. It was such a delight for guests to see these unique customs woven together to celebrate the newlyweds!

We first met Tiara when she attended one of our wedding planning workshops, and we were thrilled when she and Ricky decided they wanted our help to ensure their wedding day ran smoothly. You couldn’t meet a more kind or caring couple, and after getting to know their families it came as no surprise why these two are such a great match.

Matrix Hotel in downtown Edmonton served as the backdrop to their special day, with both ceremony and reception held at the venue. Tiara + Ricky chose to do a ‘first look’ and take their photos before the ceremony, setting the tone for a relaxed and fun-filled day. After a delicious meal and some hilarious speeches, guests celebrated until the early hours of the morning with an epic dance party!

Tiara + Ricky’s wedding is featured in the Fall/Winter 2016 issue of WeddingBells Magazine – what a perfect memento of such a lovely day!

Destination ‘I Do’ Wedding Series: West Coast Canada

The term destination wedding typically evokes images of a sandy ceremony in a sunny locale. But you don’t have to look too far to find amazing coastal destinations right here in Canada.

Located on Vancouver Island, Victoria is the capital of British Columbia. Victoria has long been known as the ‘City of Gardens’ with it’s countless formal gardens, parks and extensive bike trails throughout the city and surrounding area. With its charming character and laidback vibe, it’s easy to see why Victoria has received accolades as the ‘Most Romantic City in Canada’.

Pender Island is one of the Southern Gulf Islands along the Pacific Coast, and let me tell you, it’s spectacular. From the vast blue Pacific Ocean to lush green landscapes, your wedding photos will be incredible. Quaint and unspoiled, Pender Island can be accessed daily via ferry, seaplane or water taxi.

Destination ‘I Do’ Wedding Series: Los Cabos, Mexico

We love Los Cabos as a wedding destination and have been fortunate to plan several there over the past few years. Why?

• Proximity to Western Canada – Cabo is a quick (direct!) flight from Alberta.
• Picturesque views – from expansive desserts to aqua blue waters, a gorgeous marina and the famous El Arco, your wedding photos will be incredible
• Climate – Cabo has very consistent weather. It is generally warm and dry, not humid. Average temperatures range from 19°C – 30°C.
• People – the local vendors are so warm and welcoming, it makes the destination wedding planning process smooth and enjoyable.

Los Cabos Wedding Planning + Design

Timeless, elegant and full of luxe details, Desiree and Al’s summer wedding took place at two of our favourite Edmonton venues. The classically beautiful ceremony was held in Hotel Macdonald’s Wedgwood Room, and the contemporary Art Gallery of Alberta set the stage for the evening festivities. Fittingly, Desiree wore two dazzling Pnina Tornai dresses: a formal ballgown for the ceremony and a fitted evening gown for the reception.

These two are so sweet and caring, and the entire day was filled with love radiating from their wedding party, families and friends (who sure know how to party)!

DQ Studios captured the day beautifully, and A Love Story put together this awesome highlight film of the day.

Charlotte + Frantz were married in an intimate ceremony at The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald. They wanted to exchange vows in front of their immediate families, sharing the sacred moment with their most important supporters. They recited their own vows, which were so beautiful and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. I feel so honoured to have shared in this special moment with them.

Months later, they would celebrate with an ultra-modern reception at the Art Gallery of Alberta – more to come in Part 2!

The Pavilion at Silvertip Resort in Canmore was the perfect Rocky Mountain venue for Maureen + Tyler’s winter wedding getaway.

It was important to Maureen + Tyler that the weekend was a celebration filled with personalized touches, wow-factor décor, and fun! The weekend kicked off with a welcome cocktail party in the penthouse suite at Grande Rockies Resort, and the fun continued with a killer dance party and soft serve ice cream station to finish off the evening festivities.
