Sparrow Lane Wedding Planner: Brittany + Justin
We couldn’t have hoped for a more perfect fall day to celebrate Brittany and Justin’s wedding at Sparrow Lane. Their ceremony, held in the late afternoon, was on the outdoor patio surrounded by golden fall trees. A string quartet played as Brittany walked down the aisle with her parents, and she and Justin exchanged vows in front of a stunning modern ceremony arbour with white phalaenopsis orchids and white roses.
It was a relaxing day with all events being held at the gorgeous Edmonton area venue, making for a seamless, enjoyable experience for the couple and their guests. The wedding design featured a timeless black and white palette with modern minimalist styling.

10 Wedding Trends We’re Vibing in 2023
What’s hot for wedding trends this year? We’re sharing elements you can incorporate into your 2023 or 2024 wedding to stay current and wow your guests!
1. Statement Signage
Whether it’s a welcome sign, a seating chart or an escort card display, a statement piece at the entrance of your event sets the tone as guests arrive. Their interest is piqued and they’re excited to head inside to see what’s next.

2. Petite Wedding Parties
We love the simplicity of having only one or two of your besties stand up for you. The benefits of a smaller bridal party? Fewer people to coordinate and cost savings for attire, beauty services, flowers – even transportation!

3. Live Music
Live music adds an ambiance that recorded music cannot replicate. For our clients weddings, we try to incorporate live music during at least one portion of the day – whether it’s for the ceremony, cocktails, during dinner or the party.

4. Ikebana Inspired Florals
Ikebana is a Japanese art of floral arrangement that has seen recent resurgence in popularity. We love ikebana style arrangements as they are minimalist and graceful.

5. Fashion
If you’re donning a traditional wedding gown during the day, why not have some fun with a fashion-forward cocktail dress for the reception or dance? We’re loving puffy sleeves, oversized bows, removable capes and sheer detailing.

6. Delicate Greenery
Thick greenery runners have had their moment. We still love greens, but we’re using them more sparingly for a dainty, refined look. We’re also saying sayonara to mountains of eucalyptus! We want to see greenery in a true green colour, or green and white varigated leaves for a romantic, garden vibe.

7. Luxe Craft Cocktails
Step it up from standard sparkling and treat your guests to an expertly crafted cocktail upon arrival. Old Fashioneds are still fan favourites, but we also love tequila or gin-based beverages. Don’t forget to have something special on hand for those guests who prefer spirit-free drinks.

8. Waste Conscious Events
It seems silly to call this a trend, but we want to draw attention to the waste created by events, and get you thinking about how you can make your wedding more sustainable. Our top tips:
- Say NO to plastic cups, straws and disposable water bottles (anything single use, really).
- Rent instead of purchase.
- Source locally whenever possible – this includes food, décor and flowers.

9. Bright Blooms
Don’t get us wrong – we’re all about timeless, elegant neutrals – but colour adds so much life to events! Even if you want to stay mostly neutral, try adding a splash of colour where guests may not expect it: table stationery, a statement arrangement in the cocktail reception space, or your DJ booth for the dance party.

10. Mix Up The Menu
99% of the weddings your guests have attended served a soup or salad, followed by a main course and then dessert. Why not mix it up and surprise them with a unique style of service or unexpected courses? Try tapas style family service, or a charcuterie appetizer followed by pasta, a main and a trio of desserts – we guarantee your guests will be raving about their culinary experience at your event!

Edmonton Wedding Planner: Sabrina + Romeo
Sabrina and Romeo had planned to be wed in New York City at the Rainbow Room in April 2020…we all know how that went. Another couple’s plans deeply impacted by the pandemic, and yet another resilient and optimistic response. They moved it home to Edmonton, Canada, and with only a 6-month planning timeline we worked together to produce a very different event than they had initially envisioned.
Trading skycrapers for an entirely outdoor wedding, Sabrina and Romeo’s late summer soirée featured a mirrored aisle for their Sikh ceremony, live violinists, modern Indian cuisine, and two DJs. There was even a suprise appearance by Punjabi singer, Jazzy B! As a nod to their original venue, the Rainbow Room, we had the iconic compass featured on their dance floor.

Whitewood Barn Edmonton Wedding Planner: Danielle + Jason
Set in the charming Alberta countryside, Danielle and Jason’s wedding was held on a warm summer day at The Whitewood Barn just outside of Edmonton.
After a ‘first look’ and taking photos with their wedding party, they exchanged rings and vows in a quaint clearing of pine trees adorned with café lights and rustic wooden benches. Guitarist Jeff Ramsey serenaded guests while they sipped bubbly from a boxwood champagne wall, and enjoyed tasty hors d’oeuvres by Stir Catering. After dinner, guests danced the night away under string lights and country stars.

Banff Wedding Planner: Kelsey + Greg
Dancing the night away under the stars – this was Kelsey and Greg’s vision they shared when we first started working together to plan their dream wedding in Banff, Alberta. Tented weddings aren’t the norm in the Canadian Rockies, but we were up for the challenge, and Whyte Museum Grounds on the banks of the Bow River provided the perfect setting for this outdoor soirée.
The beautiful design, complex logistics and skillful onsite execution of Kelsey and Greg’s wedding earned it the honour of Best Wedding at the 2019 Edmonton Event Awards! It’s also featured in the Spring / Summer 2020 issue of Rocky Mountain Bride Canada.
Watching Kelsey and Greg together on their wedding day – completely swept up in joy and radiating love from their family and friends – was a perfect reminder why we’re so lucky to play a role in these milestone celebrations.

Edmonton Wedding Planner: Samantha + Raymond
It was the end of a cold snap in Edmonton, and Samantha and Raymond’s guests were so excited to be out of the house attending a beautiful wedding! Side note: we love winter weddings and don’t think they get enough credit!
One of the most important parts of their big day was ensuring they threw an awesome party for their guests, so Sam and Ray put a lot of thought into the food and drinks they served, the entertainment they hired, and memorable touches. Pops of lavender, mauve and blush added warmth and romance to The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald’s iconic Empire Ballroom, where both the vows and celebration were held.
One of the highlights of the day was Ray’s speech at the reception – his delivery was so endearing, not to mention hilarious! It was among the best we’ve ever heard and everyone was in stitches! A nod to the winter season, a hot chocolate station opened later in the evening with all the toppings you could imagine, as well as cake pops and biscotti to snack on.
Infused Studios delivered a stunning collection of images for the happy couple to look back on their day – enjoy!

Edmonton Wedding Coordinator: Stephanie + Matt
Stephanie + Matt blended a traditional church ceremony with a modern, all-white reception at Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel.
After hair and makeup at Carrie’l Salon & Spa, the ladies enjoyed bubbly and got dressed in the Onyx Suite at Matrix Hotel. Stephanie’s eight bridesmaids looked absolutely stunning in their mismatched white formal dresses. They joined up with the dapper groomsmen to take photos at Renaissance after the church service at St. Joseph’s Basilica.
The reception design was monochromatic and minimalist, with geometric centrepieces and lighting, and white florals including hydrangea and calla lilies. Amidst the all-white reception décor was a colourful rainbow candy table with Henri – Fabloomosity’s infamous boxwood elephant – overlooking the display.
Right before the final speech, Stephanie’s sister initiated a surprise flash mob that filled the dance floor with guests singing and dancing. This was the biggest and best one we’ve seen executed at a wedding! Stephanie’s jaw dropped and she was blown away by this surprise.
Jade Gabrielle did a wonderful job capturing this stylish day!
